We don’t think we’re ever going to get tired of List Pick regular Kill J and ahead of a whole host of tastemaker showcases at SXSW, she’s kindly delivered to those of us not going to Austin her electro-pop banger ‘Coda’. Part FKA Twigs, Grimes and part Robyn, the single lands along with a full debut EP Quasi, which brings together all five of her killer tracks in one hit. With a foot firmly in the experimental, the eccentric Danish musician is a sonic maverick and ‘Coda’ sees Kill J toy with tempos and emotions, unfurling from quiveringly slow to full party eruption and then back again within seconds. With vocals that could shatter a glass with precision, Kill J embodies power and you can hear the attitude as she half spits, half whispers ‘I’m the realest fucking thing you’ll hate’.
